Every offspring is having the same amount of DNA as that of a parent because of the process of gamete formation. Gametes from two different parents fertilize together To form a zygote which is having an equal amount of DNA as compared to the parents.
Gametes contain half the amount of DNA as compared to the parent cell. This is because the gamete is originated by the process of meiosis which reduces the amount of DNA by half. The parent cell is having a certain amount of DNA which is doubled by the process of DNA replication. Because of this process, every parent cell ensures that the gametes formed by it will receive an equal amount of DNA.
Gamete is having half the amount of DNA as compared to the parents cell and when two gametes unite, a zygote with an equal amount of DNA like that of parent cell is formed.
This is the reason that offsprings from lion and tiger have same or different number of chromosomes are their parent.
