The key difference lies in the scope of work. A research program or program is based on studies to find out the results that can answer the research problem, but evaluation focuses upon breaking up of the findings and drawing conclusion regarding its quality, effectiveness and adherence to the specification. So, program involves working as planned, whereas evaluation involves drawing conclusive outcome of different dimension regarding the work already done.

Statistics and Biostatistics provide necessary data, showing some trends that complement the learning from epidemiology . It helps to understand the actual trend building exhibited by the data, and potential causes of the trend as well as problem signs that are yet to be answered. With a good understanding of the epidemiology, a scholar can formulate the research problem based on problems not yet answered and design a research project having suitable research objective and research design. It will help us better prepared to fight diseases and find answers to the problems shown by the data.
