ANS,1, OVARIAN CYCLE;- This cycle is also called as the menstrual cycle. It may be defined as the cycle of events that takes places in female reproductive organ under the control of hormone marked by menstrual flow in every 28 days.
during this cycle specific events occurs periodically almost every month in the form of menstrual cycle or ovarian cycle.During this cycle, a seeies of changes occur in ovary and uterus. The changes are called as the menstrual cycle.
It has 4 major phases. 1. menstrual phase.2. proliferation phase. 3 ovulatory phase 4. luteal phase.
1. MENSTRUAL PHASE;- During this phase, the endometrium lining of uterus degenarates, rupturing the blood vessels. The degenerated blood vessels along with mucus get discharged as mentrual flow.
2. PROLIFERATION PHASE;- It is marked by the growth of ovarian follicle. The follicle also produce hormone oestrogen which stimulate repair of the uterine wall ti become thick and vascular. It also induces the maturation of only one follicle to release only one ovum at a time. It lasts from 5th to 13 th day of the month.
3. Ovulatory phase;- Around 14th day, the mature ovarian folllicle ruptures and the ovum is discharged. tHIS PHENOMENON IS CALLED OVULATION.
4. LUTEAL PHASE;-This phase lasts from 15th to 28th of the month. During this phase, uterus thickens further and prepares itself to recieve the fertilised egg. In the abseence of the, menstrual cycle begins agains.
