Outline four problems that farmers in resettlement
areas have encountered. Discuss how the
identified challenges can be resolved.
When there is a displacement of farmers so many issues come up. so now we can discuss some of those.
1. unequal or failed resettlement: when there are resettlement farmers are compensated with money or job. so it is difficult to equate these two.
2. conflict between ethenic habitat and legislation: it is always noticed that the terms and conditions of resettlement deteriorate the ethenic and cultural value of the group. the resettlement is not voluntary.
3. false strategy for community mobilization: generally it is found that when there is the resettlement of a group or a community of people, government, or the company they hardly think about the community but the loss is not only the land it is the loss of their root so that is non-compensable.
4. lack of transparency and poor management: it is well known that when there is a land acquisition some or the other way poor community face the problem. the main problem is the transparency in project and the poor vision of the authority may push the community in poverty, homeless, jobless, and uprooted.
Solutions:
1. Before resettlement or land acquisition there should be proper strategy.
2. company/government should come up with a better or equal quality of land or the life style of people.
3. monetary compensation should be the last option as its growth im[act will be less.
4. try to minimize the impact of displacement and strategic reambershment.
