Topic: Smart Homes for The Elderly

1. Develop Operational Concept

A. Vision What is the problem, deficiencies or opportunities? State how the need(s) for an envisioned system is identified. Answer precisely and concisely in a small paragraph.
B. What is the envisioned system? In a few sentences, tell what is the envisioned system? the most important functions of the system, and the most significant effects of the system?
C. Who are stakeholders? Who are clients (major stakeholders)? Identify the stakeholders of your envisioned system; particularly the major stakeholders – the clients, to whom the system is designed for, and who will use this system for their mission.
D. State the objectives of the clients (the major stakeholders) in the immediate super-system. Explain how the clients will benefit from the envisioned system in their mission environment.
E. Use cases describe how the envisioned system works in the operational environment. Use Use-Case Diagram and Sequence Diagram to describe major use cases.
F. Define System Boundary - Use IDEF0 draw External Systems Diagram, to define the interaction between the envisioned system and its external systems. Draw the External Systems Diagram, if there are many external systems in the case, select 4 or 5 most relevant ones (having more inputs / outputs). For some necessary inputs / outputs from/to omitted external systems, mark them with brief text.

A. The problems or the deficiencies which may arise in designing the smart system homes includes the connectivity problems, long connections to be made, making the whole of the area covered with good network strength so that no slow connection exists. The needs for the envisioned system are identified by simply setting up the things in mind, like what is to be done, what time should it take for implementation etc.

B. Envisioned system is a creative process for establishing the possibility of viable system concepts and technologies by, first reaching a shared understanding of a problem situation and desired futures and then nominating solution architectures. Here, the envisioned system is making or designing Smart Homes covered with good Internet.

C. Stakeholders are basically the organisations of a group of people who show interest in a particular project and are ready to invest and provide different kind of helps in the proper completion of a project. In this envisioned system, the clients are the normal people for whom the smart homes are to be designed.

D. The main objective of the clients(major stakeholders) should be to assist the team working on the project , telling them their demans, making them understand what is to be required and to what extent. If they directly contacts with the team, it may lead to development of the project in a better and efficient way. They will be benefited in many ways from the higher internet connectivity to various other technical facilities like controlling of various electronic gadgets with remotes or through the smartphones using the local wifi connection available.
