This drug would be classified as penicillins as mainly antibiotics which are given to treat strep throat is Amoxicillin or penicillin which belong to Penicillins class antibacterial.

Information regarding drug can be provided to patient's parents are

  • Give the drug around clock and at specific interval of time
  • Don't change the dose of drug and should be given with proper measurements in syrups and don't miss the dose or stop taking unless directed by physician
  • Immediately inform the physician if there any sign of hypersensitivity as rash which is itching , redness
  • Report if having stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea in patient or any superinfections
  • Don't give dairy products such as milk , butter , cheese etc with antibiotics as it can reduce its effect , should be provided after 2 to 3 hours of taking medicine
  • Also avoid giving grape fruit juice and dietary supplements containing calcium as it may dampen the effect of antibiotics
