What is the difference between Overreaching and Overtraining? What are the potential causes, and what models have been proposed to help explain factors leading to Overtraining syndrome? Provide a brief practical example of how an athlete (choose a type of athlete from an individual sport, highlight there, age, gender, training status) may be impacted by Overtraining syndrome.
OVERREACHING AND OVERTRAINING
Overreaching is a temporary condition that occurs in response to heavy or intense loads.During an overreaching phase the gains in strenth are temporarily masked by by muscle damage.Burnout or Overtraining syndrome , is a condition in which a person experiences a fatigue and declining perfomance in sport despite continuing or increased training which even causes mood swings and infections.Risk factors for overtraing syndrome are excessive wieght loss, decreased strength, chronic muscle soreness, increased injuries
Let us see an example of these impacting on an athlete. When an athelete is pushed so far for his better perfomance Overtraining syndrome(OTS0 can develop and result in carrer ending damage.Overreaching and Overtraining are part of same spectrum that lead to OTS.The pressure placed on elite athletes for perfomance is really danger due to OTS.Identifying markers that can correlate with overreaching and overtraining can arrest the progression of a potentially negative cycle.OTS could be danger on athletes whose females and ageed athletes based on their training status.
