What is the binomial system for plant nomenclature?
What is callose?
What are the various stages in normal angiosperm embryo development?
What is/are the role(s) of cotyledons in angiosperms?
Give several examples of plants characterized by wind dispersed seed; water dispersed seed
1.Binomial nomenclature is system in which naming is given by means of two parts species and genus First word a noun indicating the name of genus in which plant has been grouped and the second word is and adjective indicating the name of species.
These names are always written with the generic name first, starting with a capital letter and species always follows the generic name, starting with a lower-case letter.
2. Callose is plant polysaccharide, it’s a polymer of glucose found in plant .It is composed of glucose residues linked together through β-1, 3-link
3. Angiosperms are nothing but flowering plants. Their development starts from embryo to seed, through germination to seedling to mature plant
Eg.Spider flower we call commonly its binominal name is Grevillea victoriae.
4. The cotyledon is the part of the embryo present in the seed of a plant.cotyledon support leaf growth in a plant's early stages of life. These leaves are important because they serve as the main source for plants to get the nutrients. Cotyledons also stores the food in the embryo to new sprouting plants.
5. example : water dispersed seed - mangrove swamp ,Dioclea reflexa
wind dispersed seed - Physalis peruviana, tumbleweed,Milkweed
