You are manager of a district that has just hired several recent
university and college graduates. Most of these people are starting
their first full-time job, although most or all have held part-time
and summer positions in the past. They have general knowledge of
their particular skill area (accounting, engineering, marketing,
etc.) but know relatively little about specific business practices
and developments. Explain how you would nurture the self-concepts
in these new hires to strengthen their performance and maintain
their psychological well-being.
After the successful hiring of employees the next step that the organization introduces is to train and develop the skill and qualities of the employees because the employees are hired based on their knowledge on a particular domain but they generally lack business knowledge and also actual work experience because they have had experience in the field as interns but not as employees and they also lack knowledge regarding the application of their knowledge. So, as the manager it is my duty tro make them enable so that they become profitable for the organization and therefore I will plan a formal training for them which will be based on blended learning having the conventional and traditional way of learning along with technology use which will provide examples and help them act accordingly. I believe that organizations experience various critical situations and the employees need to manage in such situations and the training will provide inputs regarding the same.
After the formal training is complete, employees will be assigned to teams and the objective is to give them the first hand experience of how work is done because at the end of the day they also needs to be productive, therefore this phase will be the phase of On Job Training where individuals will learn while working as there wont be any target as of now and neither there will be any expectations from these employees. This will improve their confidence and have a positive impact on the employees and they need to believe that even they can do it and this will just give them that opportunity. Once the employee believes that they are ready then they will be slowly transformed from trainees to employees.
