Why is copyright the most important form of intellectual property protection on the Internet?
Copyright has become one of the most important form of Intellectual property right as today's world is connected via internet. Most people, businesses, organizations, companies, trade, online shopping or any other entity is linked to the Internet. And thus, many Intellectual property (IP) are transferred by Internet. Before this one must know why copyright matters so much? Well, Copyright rights allows an entity to secure it's creation and innovation and thus it saves itself from duplicacy of work. In other words, if an entity has made it's own product and has launched it then no other entity can make the exact copy of it if it's secured under copyright rights.
Now, Copyright has become an issue for it's protection on the Internet because whenever a data is transferred on the internet, it moves through various links and networks. This itself is a major cause of copyright issue as it's the function of the Internet to copy every data that has been moved or transferred. This can be further misused by other entities to create anything of it's use. Usually works like artistic works, writing work, creative work such as music composition, movies, videos, etc are transferred in bulk on the Internet which again calls for it's attention towards Copyright rights. Thus many tangible and intangible products or services are moved on the internet. So many commercial trade takes place via internet these days that entities trading on the Internet are concerned about the copyright issue. Thus due to these reasons Copyright has become the most important form of Intellectual property protection on the Internet today.
