Starting with 1 glycogen molecule, diagram the glycolytic energy system. Include all the major enzymes (enzymes that we have highlighted), steps and products. Be detailed in where this occurs in the muscle cell and give an accounting of all major steps.
Glycogen is converted by glycogen phosphorylase into glucose 1 phosphate. This molecule is in turn acted upon by the enzyme phosphoglucomutase and gets converted to glucose 6 phosphate. All these processes occur in the cytoplasm of the cells.
This molecule enters the glycolysis and the various reactions in the glycolytic process is clearly illustrated in the below diagram,
