General Manager: General Manager is the overall manager of all the activities of the function or organization the general manager is heading/ managing. The General Manager is accountable and responsible for total management of the organization or the function he owns or heads.

General Manager I s big position in any organization, this position requires lot of expertise and skill sets to deal almost all the employees of the organization. All the major problems and issues are routed through General manager and he needs to take the appropriate decisions for all of these issues or problems.

Information Needs of General Managers: Since the General Manager is responsible and accountable for total management and performance of the organization. The General Manager is the top most single person in the organizations who manages and lead the organization and he needs to ensure that the organization is running well on its growth and success path. Thus for ensuring all this key roles of general management, the GM needs the information systematically so that he gets the right update of the organization and can take suitable decisions for the organization. Following information needs needed for the GM as below

  • The Information of regular production updates to be reach to GM, so that he is aware of the production achievement of the organization.
  • The information of the quality defects, line problems, customer complaints, supplier issues etc all should reach to GM, so that GM is aware of the current status of each key issues of the organization.
  • Employee attendance/absenteeism information should reach to GM so that he is aware on the human resource subject.
  • The information on Customer order management, customer delivery, customer dispatch, logistics performance, warehousing issues, customer consumption etc. should reach to GM to have proper visibility on customer management.
  • The information on supplier orders, dispatch, deliveries, defect levels, supplier capacity issues etc should reach to GM for better visibility on supplier side.
  • Plant level information like plant performance, people issues, people interaction, team work, cultural issues, people recruitment, system issues, ERP update, plant level maintenances, improvement projects etc. should reach to GM for better visibility of the plant.
