What is citizenship? What are the requirements of citizenship? What does it mean to be a citizen in terms of religion, race, and ethnicity? Since the word “religion” is not defined in the Constitution or laws concerning citizenship, where then does it find meaning? How were shifting definitions of citizenship and religion extended to Native Americans, Asians, and Latinos in the late nineteenth century?
Citizen is a person who is a legal member of a sovereign state or belong to the state and is recognized under custom or law
Requirement of citizenship
By birth When a person is born in one country
By hereditary When any of the parent is a citizen of one country
acquired citizenship It is acquired by individuals after fulfilling certain Criterias
Honorary citizenship it is often given as an honor to ceratin individuals
In terms of religion, race or ethnicity citizenship is the identity one individual enjoy with them. In case of religion an individual who follow the customs and traditions of a religion are accepted as citizens of that religion by others
In case of ethnicity it is based on their ethnic origin Eg White
in case of race it is about the race of the human individual Eg: Mangloid
the word religion finds it meaning in the word "IN GOD WE TRUST" It also find meaning in amendment that allowed the freedom of religion.
