Scatter diagram is the easiest way to find the type of regression and also we can able to bring regression equation and R-squared values on the chart itself.

Say for example :

X and Y data set in excel to create a regression equation.

Bring X and Y data in to excel sheet. Select both XY data and go to insert tab. Choose scatter plot diagram and populate the chart on the excel sheet. select any data point with in the chart and right click and add trend line. In the format trend line option choose linear,Exponential, Log,Polynomial, Power and moving average regression and also select display an equation on chart option and R-squared options
