The hormones secretin and cholecystokinin which are released by duodenal enteroendocrine cells will have what overall action?
Ans:-
Action of the secretin hormone:-
Secretin hormone is produced in the S cells of the duodenum which are located in the intestinal glands.
Action:-
Secretin helps in regulation of pH of the duodenum by inhibiting the secretion of gastric acid from the parietal cells of the stomach and stimulating the production of bicarbonate from the ductal cells of the pancreas.
Action of the cholecystokinin:-
Cholecystokinin is secreted from mucosal epithelial cells in the duodenum .
Action:-
It stimulates the gallbladder to contract and release stored bile into the intestine and stimulates delivery into the small intestine of digestive enzymes.
