Two climates have distinct alternating wet and dry seasons. Name them, and mention the time of year when each has its wet season, then explain the cause (the specific weather elements) for the wet season in each
(Please be as thorough as possible)
There are two climates that have distinct wet and dry seasons. The names of these seasons are given below:
1. Tropical wet-dry climate.
2. Humid subtropical climate.
1. Tropical wet-dry climate: in this climate very distinct wet and dry seasons found. The summer season has high precipitation and high temperature. On the other hand, the dry season is much longer in comparison to the trade-wind littoral (Am) climate.
Time of year for each season is given below:
Wet season:
In the tropical climate, the wet season usually lasts from May to the month of September in Northern Hemisphere. On the other hand, it lasts from Nov to the month of March in Southern Hemisphere.
Dry season:
It lasts from Nov to the month of March in Northern Hemisphere and May to the month of Sep in the Southern Hemisphere.
The reason behind the distinct wet and dry season:
The variation in rainfall in tropical regions is much higher than variations in temperature. The reasons behind the wet and dry season mainly tilt in the earth's axis, direct sunlight, tropical rain belt, and winds.
2. Humid Subtropical Climate:
The subtropical climate also has distinct wet and dry seasons. This climate is found between tropical and temperate climates. It has humid and hot summers and mild to cold winter seasons.
Wet season timing:
Usually, July to September end is the timing for the wet season.
Dry season timing:
Dec to March is usually considered as the dry season.
The reason behind the distinct wet and dry season:
Similar to the tropical climate, the main reason behind the wet and dry seasons in the humid subtropical region are tilt in the earth's axis, direct sunlight, tropical rain belt, and winds.
