How would you measure the hardness of:

a) unmovable part of a large machine which is very heavy to transport?

b) an unknown alloy?

Solutions

Expert Solution

a) Now a days somany portabale hardness test devices available in market. Rockwell and brinell hardness testes are conducted by heavy forces so it causes damage to the test material.

Ultrasonic Hardness Tester is new device apply ultrasonic contact impedence method to do comparative hardness measurements for testing pieces with adavantages of high accuracy , efficiency , portable and easy operation It is widely used to measure the hardness of cast material , dies and moulds , bearings tooth flanks etc. Powered microscope is needed to calculate the indentation only 2 seconds ia needed for calculation the hardness and also easy operation.

b) In unknown alloy case there was a small confusion was exist the material is high harder or low harder . This confusion can be solved by scratch test . Scratch test means just make a scratch with any know material over the unknown material if scratch was found that means the the unknown material hardness is less harder that the material used for scratching. After we can find it my vickers or brinell or rockwell

You are the hospital administrator for a county hospital, which is funded in a large part by that county's property taxes. You discover that you have an indigent patient who has been mistakenly admitted as an inpatient to the hospital strictly for dialysis treatment. The hospital does not, as a general practice, provide only dialysis treatment for patients. This is beyond the scope of the hospital's mandate and is therefore, an inappropriate use of local property tax funding. If the...
