Most of the devices we use, generally uses the touch screen functionality. Smartphones being one of the use case of the touch screen functionality. So, here I will be describing more about the touch screen Smartphones. Some of the touch screen uses infrared light technology and other uses forced sensors. But mostly the smart phone industry uses the resistive and capacitive touch screen.
So the resistive touchscreen uses glass based panels that are covered with resistive and conductive metallic layer beneath the surface. These layers are held apart by a spacer and electric current runs through them when the screen remains operational. When a touch operation happens the layers make contact. The electrical field is then noted and the driver translates that response to the OS to operate.
The capacitive touchscreen uses capacitors to store the charge. When the touch is made, the electrical field gets distorted at that particular field. This actually helps to device to figure out the exact point where it is touched and the device driver translate that to the OS and the OS responds to that.
