(Answer) Let us assume that John Doe is a friend who believes that the 5 senses are independent of each other. In an experiment, where John is blindfolded, he is made to smell the aroma of a freshly baked Pizza. Although it is his sense of smell that is at play, his mouth beings to immediately salivate and he beings to crave the delicious taste of the gooey cheese, the juicy pepperoni with crispy edges and the cotton-y bread with the stuffed crust. Furthermore, even though John is blindfolded, he immediately beings to visualise a slice of his favourite pepperoni pizza.
The thing that takes place here is that John’s senses are connected by a slice of pizza or rather by his past memories of eating that same pizza. Therefore, his senses are connected by the organ that gives him his senses in the first place – the brain.
In a painting of buildings, rivers and mountains, the monocular cues that one would use are: Perception – Perception is the ability to make a building look taller, a road to get narrow as it goes away from the page etc.
Shadows/ Light – Shadows and light are the supplementary elements that make the river get its water caustic effects or make the reflection of the sun or the street lamps form reflections in the water.
Dimensions – With dimensions, one can make a mountain look realistic with a sense of curvature towards the edges that make the mountain look like it is half in the dark and half shadowed.
