what is the greatest future challenge to efforts to reduce tobacco use and what could be done to reduce these challenges?
The prevention and control of tobacco remain a critical and important area for public health. There is still work to continue passing on the importance and benefits of non-smoking policies. Tobacco is a highly addictive, highly publicized product, with a well-endowed industry and an evolving product line (Erwing & Brownson, 2016). The greatest future challenge to reduce tobacco use is the tobacco industry, which aggressively promotes lethal products, including marketing for youth and young adults. Among products that are attractive to young people are Hookah, flavored cigars and electronic nicotine delivery systems (electronic cigarettes). In order to attack this evolving landscape of tobacco and nicotine products, it will be necessary to investigate the harmful effects of these products. For example, research is being done to help us understand the potential benefits and risks of e-cigarettes in the population and individual health, including its possible role in smoking cessation (Erwing & Brownson, 2016).
