Expert Solution

1. Wireless technology plays an important role in maintaining the industries and some industries business models are entirely based on wireless technology such as the internet, GPS, etc.
Their industries transfer their data from one place to another with the help of these technologies only. If there would not have been there then these industries would not have emerged so far. In the case of automation, wireless technology is playing a key role in storing and analyzing the data using wireless technology.

2. There are many advantages which are present in wireless technologies

  • These technologies have increased the efficiency of data transfer.
  • These have increased the flexibility of work so much that one can work for a company from any part of the world.
  • These technologies are cheaper to set up in comparison to wired technologies.
  • These technologies create new opportunities which are viable only in case of wireless technologies which can provide services when we are mobile.

3. Despite the advantages, there are many disadvantages as well

  • There are many security issues with these technologies as anyone from outside the network can see the network by hacking it.
  • Sometimes, the wireless network communication is a problem in some areas so we cannot have service of these wireless technologies everywhere.
  • As there could be interference with the other frequency of wireless technology devices thus this could cause the connection speed to slow down.

4. Following are the organizations

  1. Federal Communications Commission (FCC): This manages the communication which originates from united states and which end up in united states.

  2. International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R): This organization manages the frequencies which are assigned to different regions across the globe.

  3. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE): This organization creates standards which we use to communicate with each other.

  4. Wi-Fi Alliance: This organization provides certification testing to the WLAN products.

  5. International Organization for Standardization: This organization is a non-government organization which make protocols and models to be used in wireless communication.

5. Following are the differences:

  • WLAN: wireless local area network, which covers a small area like a University, school. contains two or more devices.
  • WPAN: wireless personal area network, These connect over the very small distance like 30 feet and Bluetooth uses this WPAN as the technology.
  • WMAN: wireless metropolitan area network, this connects several LANs which can include connecting several buildings in the cities.
  • WWAN: wireless wide area network, this is maintained between the towns, cities or states and generally maintained by the satellites.
