UN convention on Genocides took place in 1948 and it was vowed to stop such instances in future. But it was not successful in controlling genocides in future. Genocides have been reported in Myanmar, South Sudan and other African countries. it is estimated that over the 170 million people have lost their lives in genocides and crime against humanity. it is more than total casualities of wars fought in 20th centuries.
It is important to study genocides so that right strategies can be chalked out to address the problem. There are so many issues at international level that does not allow solutions for genocides. We have not been successful in building up international institutional frame work to fight against genocides. Further, there is lack of political will eliminate instances of genocides. If we are able to address these two issue appropriately, then we can stop genocides instances. Further, after studying genocides, we can appropriately predict the prospective genocides and remedial actions can be taken accordingly to stop such incidents.
