Why is it easier to name a taste in food than a smell in the envirorment?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Motor system of head, neck and face is supplied by Cranial nerve. While the motor system of rest of body is suppled by rest of the spinal nerve. Motor supply to the head is via Trigeminal cranial nerve.

Similarity between Cranial & Spinal nerve : Both consist of pre and post Ganglionic fiber.

Difference - Cranial motor nerve originate directly from brain while Motor nerve for rest of body originates in the spinal cord.

CONE - are the receptor of eye in retina responsible for colour vision. There are three different types of cones, Red cones, blue cones and green cones. Hence, these are responsible for sensing all different wavelengths of light. Wavelength is inversely proportional to frequency, hence cones responds to different frequencies of light.

Ruffine s ending are receptors on skin which are most sensitive to stretching of the skin.

Taste buds are different for differnt taste located in paipillae of tounge inside taste bud. Taste buds have definite distribution for different taste receptors. No such distribution of receptors for smell is present. Hence, it easier to name a taste in food than a smell in the envirorment.
