An IP address consists of 32 bits, often shown as 4 octets of numbers from 0-255 represented in decimal form instead of binary form. For example, the IP address: 168.212.226.204 in binary form is 10101000.11010100.11100010.11001100.

Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is the language acomputer uses to access the internet. It consists of a suite of protocols designed to establish a network of networks to provide a host with access to the internet.

The main function of DNS is to translate domain names into IP Addresses, which computers can understand. It also provides a list of mail servers which accept Emails for eachdomain name. Each domain name in DNS will nominate a set of name servers to be authoritative for its DNS records.
