The doctor prescribes her patient a treatment for a non-life-threatening condition. The doctor argues that this is a useful allocation of health care resources because the treatment will improve the patient’s quality of life. A health economist disagrees with the doctor and says the treatment, in this particular case, is a wasteful use of resources. Explain each the doctor’s and the economist’s perspectives applying marginal analysis.
The treatment or caring of the patients with life threatening condition can truly improve the life quality of patients and their families. This can improve their life quality both physically and mentally.Around 40 million people in our world presently need this kind of care or treatment and in this 40 million 70% people are in developing or underdeveloped countries, but around 14% patients already got the treatment.
The decreased awareness on this subject is the reason for the increased barrier to improving access and the value and need for the treatment increases due to the increasing of noncommunicable diseases and older population. And the primary care of this life threatening condition will decrease or reduce the unwanted visit to the hospital and also reduces the unwanted use of health services.
The early identification, monitering and the treatment of this disease and pain can correctly remove the major problems due to this kind of diseases. This kind of treatment is team approach for improving the patients condition. This team provide good counselling to the patients.so we can say that it can roughly support the patient and their family. This type of care is given through the health services and this team gives a very good attention to needs of patients.
Lots of adults are in need of the care for many chronic diseases like cancer, respiratory diseases, diabetes, AIDS,kidney failure, parkinsons disease, dementia, tuberculosis and pain is the most common problem faced by these patients but the opioids can show the symptoms like breathlessness and if we are controlling this kind of symptoms in the early stages then it is possible to relieve suffering.
So now we can say that the economists argument is very wrong according to the above statements and in my personal view the treatment for the life threatening conditions are very effective in patients and in their families.
