The Black community who were moved to Harlem area were living happily drinking and partying till the next day morning sometimes. There were more people that they were happy to live together. They got their wages on Saturday and there was no work on Sunday, so they had a whole day to party. In order to pay rent to the land-lord, they arranged for mini parties inviting their friends thus collecting some money for the stay and paying it as a rent. There was a constitutional ban on alcohols from 1920 till 1933 which prevented making, selling and exporting alcohol illegal. He was mentioning about the puritan Protestants who advocated the ban on alcohol which ended up in a constitutional ban. The parties were on high during the ban on alcohol from 1920 till 1933. They knew that it was risky to have alcohol in possession but they enjoyed the risk. By the time, the act was repealed, the parties also became obsolete because people had alcohol available everywhere.
