The pair of protein responsible for a rapidly synthesized rapidly degraded signaling intermedate in the heterotimeric Gs signaling is the Adenylyl cyclase and Protein kinase A.
In the Gs signalling pathway, signaling molecules bind to a domain of the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR ) located outside the cell, and an intracellular GPCR domain then in turn activates a particular G protein.
GTP-bound, activated Gsα binds to Adenylyl cyclase to produce the second messenger cyclic AMP (cAMP), which in turn activates the cAMP-dependent protein kinase i.e Protein Kinase A . Protein Kinase A then goes on to phosphoylate other proteins in a phosphorylation cascade.
NB: [Among these, Adenylyl cyclase and protein kinase A are proteins whereas cAMP is a nucleotide].
