Which of the following contains only C, H and O?
a). glucagon, b). insulin, c). fiber, d). sucrose, e). c and d
Answer - E) c and d
All are important bio-molecules present in the body. All these biochemical play different role. For example the glucagon and insulin are hormones secreted by the pancreas. They are antagonistic hormone. Their main function is to maintain the blood sugar levels. They act on all the cells of the human body and mainly the liver cells to maintain the carbohydrate metabolism. They have all the three elements including the C, H and O however these are not the only building structures in case of glucagon and insulin. In a broad sense, they are proteins. Proteins contain three groups including the hydroxyl, carboxyl and the amine group. This includes nitrogen molecules in the structure as well. Hence option A and B are incorrect. Fibre and sucrose are classified as important carbohydrates. They only contain the Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen molecule as their building block. Sucrose at one hand acts as a source of energy, not directly but broken down into smaller units, whereas fibres are non-digestible and mainly play a role in homeostatic balance. Both these structures have only C,H and O.
Hence Option E. is the correct answer.
