RTEMS stands for Real Time Executive for Multiprocessor Systems. It is an open source operating system having real time properties and has added features which can support many applications and interfaces for programming. They find their use in embedded devices and also in the space and medical units. POSIX is an open API standard which is supported by RTEMS

PikeOS is also a real time operating system but it is commercialised. It provides for its user to build many smart devices for IOT and at the same time ensures that the quality and securtiy is maintained as per industry standards. PikeOS has the feature of a separate kernel based hypervisor. It can work in multiple operating systems due to its multiple partition property. It finds application in defence, tranport, automotive industries.
