A graduate student wants to know if there is a significant difference in reading levels between males and females. What type of t-test should she use?

a) T-test for dependent samples

b) T-test for independent samples

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:-

Here a graduate student wants to know if there is a significant difference in reading levels between males and females then she should be used t test for Independent variables

because , samples are independently distributed and if their means are different .In this test we test the null hypothesis that mean of male population is equal to mean of female population versus mean of male population is different than mean of female .i.e

Ho :- There is no significant difference between male and female population

V/s

H1 :- There is significant difference between male and female population

therefore she should use two sample t test.

thanks.
