a.) A coach wants to know if his basketball students (n = 12) have a mean height larger than the population height of 70 inches ( s = 6). A one sample z-test will be used.
b.) A teacher wants to know if his class’s average life sciences test score is different from the district average of 78 (n = 25, s = 8). A one sample t-test will be used.
c.) 10 participants are randomly assigned to an experimental or control group (5 in each group) to test the effect of a sleeping pill on drowsiness the next day. An independent t-test will be used.
