What is the final dilution of a liquid diluted first by 10^-1, then 10^-2, again at 10^-2, and finally 10^-1?
Answer :
Dilution value of one tube = valume added(sample)/{sample + diluent(initial volume)}
Ex: when we transfer 1ml into 9ml then the dilution value of tube is equal to = 1/1+9 = 1/10. or 1×10^-1
Therefore ;
In a given questions where a liquid diluted first by 10^-1, then 10^-2, again at 10^-2, and finally 10^-1
This means , firstly we added 1ml of original sample to 9ml diluent in tube 1
Then we added 1ml from tube 1 to tube 2 containing 99ml of diluent.
Then we added 1ml from tube 2 to tube 3 containing 99ml diluent.
Then we added 1ml from tube 3 to tube 4 containing 9ml of diluent
Therefore :
final dilution is total of above given dilution
= 10^-6 (1/10×1/100×1/100×1/10).
