The Immigration Policy in the United States has become one of the largest wedges among American citizens in recent years. Regardless of one’s political views it’s hard to understand how they cannot see the positives immigrants bring to our country. From unskilled laborers, diversity, trade, and skilled workers, our country cannot function without immigrants. The factors that influence the policy makers in our country are often politically motivated. The current administration is a prime example of how political factors influence policy on immigration. We need law makers from both sides to come together to truly develop a bipartisan policy that is safe, fair and fluid. Yes, we need security at our boarders, but closing the boarders is not what our country was founded on. Social factors that influence immigration policy are perceived cultural threats, crime and drug activity. These fears are spread through media and social media regardless if they are factual or not.
