1. Describe the movements of transverse adduction and flexion for the pectoralis major and biceps brachii muscles.
2. How did adding more rubber bands affect the strength of each joint that each "muscle" moved?
3. How does the addition of the rubber bands affect the range of motion of the joint?
4. The biceps brachii and the pectoralis major muscles both cross the shoulder. How does each muscle affect the movement of the shoulder?
1.
The movements are smooth movements. You can see the rubber bands stretching and returning easily. There isn’t as much extension in the biceps brachii as there is in the pectoralis
2.
bands allowed for more coordination of the movement on the plane. It made the tension during movement stronger
3.
The addition of the rubber bands allowed for a stricter range of motion. The rubber bands collectively made it more difficult to move the skeleton outside of the range of motion or in other directions
4.
Biceps brachii is a large fusiform muscle. it presengt in the fusiform muscle in the upper arm. it has two heads the short head and the long head. it lies in the upper arm between the shoulder and elbow.
Pectoralis major is a thick, fan shaped muscle , arising from the anterior surface of the sternal half of the clavicle. it is called as the chest muscle.
shoulder joint is one of the most mobile joint in the human body. biceps brachii act slightly as aflexor of the shoulder joint but pectoralis major hs four different action in the shoulder movement.
the biceps brachii slightly assist in forward flexion of shoulder joint by bringing the arm forward and upward. the short head of the biceps brachii attached to the scapula or shoulder blade helps to stabilize the ashoulder joint when the shoulder carries a heavy weight.
Pectoralis major has four actions which helps in the movement of shoulder joints
1.flexion of humerus
2.adduction of humerous
3.medial rotation of humerus
4.keeps the arm attached to the body.
biceps brachii and pectoralis major along with other muscles helps in the arm circumduction ie, movement of shoulder in a circlar direction.
