write a two-page introduction about the power design for the specific data center.
Power design for Data center is a critical aspect . As in a Data center everything works on electricity , so it is very important to have a continuous supply of electric power to the data center. No electricity no data center .
So in order that a data center up and running and doing the work it has been built for we need to have an efficient power design in place for the data center.
The main supply of electricity will be provided by the power generation companies which will be feed to transformers from where the high voltage electricity will be converted to low voltage and then go to the main distribution panels which have fuses, circuit breakers, ground leakage protection units ,etc. From there they will be converted from AC to DC and then feed to UPS(uninterrupted power supply) or load banks. The UPS ensure that clean DC power is going to the IT equipment and there is no surge in the current damaging the equipment which are sensitive to surges.
UPS also serve as power back up when the power from the grid is not available and then power has to be supplied through a local generator .The local generator can be fuel operated providing necessary power supply .
these generators are for back up as a data center cannot be without electricity for long.
Another aspect where power design comes into play is how much power is IT equipment is using over the other things like lighting, air conditioning , cooling systems, etc are using .
The power design should be in such a manner the maximum of available electrical energy is used efficiently for the IT hardware and not the supporting equipment. This is termed as Power usage efficiency .
1 stands for all electrical energy goes to servers ,2 stands for ancillary equipment using same energy as servers.
So power design should be tending more towards 1 .
