It is widely shared that a country with a rapid population growth
faces serious environmental problems. With examples, examine four
(4) of such problems Ghana faces as a nation.
Ghana as a nation faces the problem of quality drinking water, especially the upper regions of Ghana. The provision of boreholes and pipe-borne water did aid in the removal of diseases like guinea-worm diseases and other water-borne diseases. But the effort still needs to be more elaborate. Another major problem is insufficient electricity in big cities and towns. Moreover, there is a complete absence of electricity in many rural and suburban communities across the country. Majority of the towns and communities in Ghana receive electricity from portable generators, batteries, torchlights, kerosene lamps, etc. Despite the national grid, the insufficient power supply is creating problems locally known as "Dumsor". Two other problems severing Ghana's situation are poor governance and uncontrolled corruption which have reduced Ghana to poverty and a pitiable situation. HIV/AIDS infection problems are also prevalent in Ghana, which raised the requirement for Youth Education in terms of girl-child and sex-education. The need for sex-eduction achieved importance from a 2016 study that revealed more than two lakhs ninety thousand cases and children living with HIV with Ghana. The study also revealed twenty thousand newly infected cases.
