In a business setting that is similar to Costco CSR will consist of developing and then implementing and using a self-regulating business model. This self-regulating business model helps a company selling products at a discounted price to its members to be socially accountable. It will help the company to be socially accountable to itself, to its stakeholders (both internal as well as external stakeholders) and also to the public at large.
In my business setting CSR enables the management of my company to integrate social as well as environmental concerns in the company’s business operations and interactions of the company with its stakeholders.
In my business setting CSR entails the following – taking care of the company’s employees, supporting the communities in which the company’s employees as well as members (i.e. customers) work and live, operate in a manner that is efficient and is environmentally responsible and sourcing our merchandise in a sustainable manner so that our carbon footprint is minimized.
Merchandising looks into issue of human rights, animal welfare, environmental impact, packaging and chemical management. Focus on communities entails charitable contributions, donation programs, and employee volunteering. Employees are taken care of through inclusiveness and providing equal opportunity to all employees.
