Solutions

Expert Solution

Autonomic Nervous system is divided Into sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system ,which are responsible for the involuntary functions within the body.

*Parasympathetic comes under Autonomic Nervous system which is responsible for the homeostasis of the body and also the rest and digest response whereas sympathetic which also comes under Autonomic Nervous system is responsible for fight or flight response.
* parasympathetic controls body response at rest while sympathetic controls when in heat.
*Parasympathetic do have longer neurons and slow response while sympathetic have short neurons and faster response.

*Parasympathetic calms down and relaxes the body down after a stress or at rest while sympathetic always stresses up and give more alert.

*In para sympathetic, neurotransmitters are cholinergic while in sympathetic, they are adrenergic.

*Parasympathetic causes a decreased Heart rate, muscle relaxation ,constriction of bronchial tube and pupils while sympathetic causes increased Heart rate, contracted muscle and relaxed pupil and bronchial tube.

*Parasympathetic have no involvement in glycogen to glucose conversion whereas sympathetic has increased involvement, for energy.

*Parasympathetic causes an increased urinary output and doesnot act in adrenal gland.Sympathetic decrease urine output and act in adrenal gland to release adrenaline.

*In parasympathetic, sphincters are relaxed while in sympathetic, sphincters are contracted..
