If you wanted to measure expression of DNA at the level of specific transcribed mRNA sequences, what method could you use? (Describe quantitative reverse-transcription PCR (qRT-PCR).)
Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction is a laboratory technique where the reverse transcription of RNA to DNA ( formation of cDNA) is happens and amplification of specific DNA target sites by using PCR. It is mainly used to measure the amount of specific RNA and it is done by the amplification reaction using fluorescence, and this technique is known as Real-time PCR or Quantitative PCR (qPCR). Combined RT-PCR and qPCR are commonly used for analysis of gene expression and quantification of viral RNA in research and clinical settings. RT-PCR has its own applications when it comes to laboratory and research. It can even detect very low copy number of RNA molecules and it can be used in the diagnosis of genetic diseases and in the determination of the abundance of specific different RNA molecules within a cell or tissue as a measure of gene expression.
