From the technical instruction of ELISA method, please suggest how the ELISA HIV test kit was prepared?
ELISA stands for Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay. In which a protein ( antigen of the virus/bacteria/or any others) of the pathogen is attached to a solid medium. And the sample is collected from the person suspected to a disease and pour into the apparatus.
The sample must contain some amount of antibodies that will attached with the antigen and that antibodies is linked with the enzyme, after washout when particular substrate is added it gives a colour indicating the binding of antibodies with the antigen, that is complementary.
ELISA is of three types- direct, sandwich and competitive ELISA.
The ELISA HIV test kit was prepared by- is used to detect HIV antibody, it checks for production of antibodies in the body in response to HIV. The blood sample is added to cassette whare a protein (HIV antigen) is attached to a solid support. If the sample contains HIV antibodies will bind to the attached antigen and gives a significant colour. And that will confirm the person is suffering from HIV. It is one of the easiest and most widely done by this process.
