Please provide 2 examples of confidence interval and point estimate as soon as possible (they must be easy to memorize).
Examples of Point estimate:
1) Sample mean- e.g. Mean IQ of a class of students
2) Sample proportion- e.g. Proportion of college students who ride their bicycle to school
Examples of Confidence Interval:
1) Cooking recipes have certain measurements of ingredients to achieve a certain flavor of the finished food. e.g. a tablespoonful of this, a cup measure of that etc
But whether the original cook carefully leveled the measure or allowed it to be slightly heaped or underfilled, or used fresh or stale ingredients, or brands of a different strength of flavor, etc — would be the confidence intervals.
2) A clothing company makes a jeans of waist sizes 32". Suppose we buy 2 jeans and measure the waist size manually and find it to be 31.8" and 32.4".But the company put a waist size of 32" instead because it assumes that any waist size of jeans within 31.8" and 32.4" is a 32" jeans with a probability of x% where x is usually 95 or 99. This is classified as a 95% or a 99% CI.
