Differentiate continuous and project type production

CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION	PROJECT TYPE PRODUCTION
Continuous production system are the repetitive type of production system.	Project type production system are the project specific and are kind of intermittent production system.
Very large number of products are produced. Stock number of production i.e. high volume of same products.	They have very specific requirement and are in singular nature type of production system.
Small team of less skilled labour are used. Most of the time due to repetition of job major portion of production system is automated.	They need qualified skilled and specific management and technical staff for the execution of project.
Production cost is not higher as compared to project type production system. Less standard products in large quantity are produced.	Due to singularity of production nature it may lead to higher production cost.
Large volume of end products is produced with focus mainly on producing the mass production	Limited number of end products are produced and production is solely dependent on quality of product
Same machinery setup is used again and again, duplication of machine is also done.	Frequent changes of machinery setups are required for different projects
No special management techniques are required. Output number of end products are basically based on anticipation of demand and supply	Operation research is used and specific management skills like PERT and CPM are used.
