What are the advantages and disadvantages of Manufacturing Resource planning and lean manufacturing?
Advantages and disadvantages of Manufacturing Resource Planning
Advantages
1. Right materials which are required for production are available on ontime.
2.It will result in optimal use of manufacturing resources.
3.Helps in collecting business data for analysis and decision making.
4.Capital cost will decrease due to decreased inventory levels.
5.It results in timely delivery of manufactured goods to customers.
Disadvantages
It can be detrimental to a company that is not necessarily dependent on the demand forecast.
This is why companies that have relatively simpler operations may be a better candidate for MRP systems instead of a facility that leans more on the complex side.
Advantages and disadvantages of Lean manufacturing
Advantages
1.The most significant benefit of lean manufacturing is that it can efficiently minimize the waste within a production facility. This process eliminates aged inventory.
2.Instead of focusing on the needs of all consumers, lean focuses mainly on royal consumers which results in building strong relationships with trusted consumers and helps in steady flow of revenue.
3.This facility does not waste any space within the operation and enables the facility to come as close as it can to production efficiency.
Disadvantages
1 Equipment or labour failure can lead to more inconsistencies within lean and can make the entire operations fall behind.
2. In correlation with equipment failure, this drawback in production enables delivery inconsistencies.
3.Finally it can hinder customer relationships, push consumers towards competitors and cost you revenue.
