The Acme Soy Sauce Company also makes a special sauce with the sugar C6 H12 O6 . How many moles of the sugar are in a packet that contains 1.5 g of the sugar?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Molecular formula of Sugar is C6H12O6.

Let's calculate first molar mass of sugar using atomic masses of the constituent atoms.

Molar mass of sugar C6H12O6 = 6 * At. mass of C + 12 * at. mass of H + 6 * At. mass of O.

= 6 * 12.0 g/mol + 12 * 1.0 g/mol + 6 * 16 g/mol

= 72.0 + 12.0 + 96.0

= 180.0 g/mol

Now,

# of moles of substance = Given mass of susstance in grams / Molar mass of substance in g/mol.

Given mass of the sugar = 1.5 g

Molar mass of Sugar = 180.0 g/mol

So,

# of mles of SUgar in 1.5 g = 1.5 g / 180.0 g = 8.33 * 10-3 mol.

In a packet that contain 1.5 g sugar there are 8.33 * 10-3 mol of the sugar.

An experiment was conducted to compare the alcohol content of soy sauce on two different production lines. Production was monitored eight times a day in both production lines. Production line 1 has a sample standard deviation of 0.15 and Production line 2 has a sample standard deviation of 0.8. Assume both populations are normal. State and conclude your hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance if the both of production lines have the same variability?
