if the pilot light on a gas water heater will not stay lit... what seem to be the problem?
The pilot light controls the heater operation, i.e., burning the gases. If it won't light that means the problem is likely caused by a faulty thermocouple.A thermocouple is a device that detects heat and converts it into the current in a circuit. If there is no heat generated then the light won't lit up and the whole system won't work.
The likely cause of Thermocouple failure is due to 1) It is damaged 2) It being expired, i.e., ran over its lifespan 3) Blocked or dirt got stuck4) Bent or partially defected thermocouple 5) the pilot tue being broken or has some leaks.
So finally if you could just replace the thermocouple the problem is likely to be solved.
