Explain the relationship among chylomicrons, cholesterol, and the lipoproteins LDL. What is the role of this lipoprotein in the body? Why is it considered “bad”? Where does it come from? Where could it end up?
Chylomicrons are ultra low-density lipoproteins (ULDL), that consist of triglycerides ,cholesterol, phospholipids and proteins .
Chylomicrons are made in Intestinal Cells.
LDL consists of more amount cholesterol than triglycerides and protein,They are formed in the Liver.
Chylomicrons transport Triglycerides(Fat)[Cholesterol is a type of lipid] from intestine -------- Liver,Skeletal muscle and Adipose tissue.where as,LDL carry cholesterol carries cholesterol from the liver ---------- bloodstream.
LDL are called Bad Cholesterol because,They carry cholestrol synthesized in the liver into BLood stream--------Build up of cholesterol in Arteries----- They stick to Blood vessels----predisposes to Diseases like Atherosclerosis,Myocardial Infarction etc.
LDL are formed in the liver , when triglycerides are removed from VLDL by the lipoprotein lipase enzyme (fewer fat molecules with same protein transport shell), containing a higher proportion of cholesterol esters. They carry CHolesterol into Blood stream and Ends in the Arteries.
