If the valve face and valve seat do not contact each other evenly after reconditioning---. a. regrind the value with the same stone b regrind the seats with stones of different angles c. knurl the valve guide d. none of the above
If valve face and valve seat do not contact each other evenly after reconditioning then we have to regrind the valve seat with the same stone.
valve face and valve seat should always be in contact. if under normal conditions the seat and valve face do not contact, then at higher working temperature, when the face expands slightly more than the seat, the contact area moves down the valve face. this leads to leakage between the surfaces and reduction in engines compression and power.
it should be remembered that if the contact line of the valve face and valve seat is too high, that is the face and the seat do not contact evenly, then the valve seat should be reground with the same stone initially used. and if the contact line is too low then the seat must be reground with stones of different angle.
