1) Pre start up checks needs to be done before starting up the pump to detect any failures and deal with them. Pump should be checked for proper placement and must be secured properly. All the fasteners must be tightened. The rotation of the pump shaft must be checked. Shaft seals, alignment and bearing lube must all be taken care of.
Details such as pump data sheet, pump curve, installation operation booklet , general tools, instruments such as vibrometer etc must be checked with.
After pre check the pump startup begins and suction valve is opened to full open position. Discharge valve is also opened slightly. Pump must be primed and regulation of all heating, cooling sections must be done. Then the motor is started and discharge is adjusted and desired flow is reached.
Shutdown should be done in the reverse direction of startup and driver is also shutdown. Dischareg valve for small pumps ae closed along with the suction valve.
