For each of the following situations, describe the effect on blood pressure and the physiological basis of the response: A). Being attacked by a mugger B). Addison’s disease C). Diabetes insipidus

Solutions

Expert Solution

A) Attack by a mugger makes the person to escape from. As it's an emergency situation the sympay system gets activated and the blood vesssels constricts and the heart rate increases. As a result the blood pressure also increases. Because when blood vessels constrict the resistance increases there by the blood pressure increases.

B) blood pressure decreases in case of Addison's diseased patients. The disease cause adrenal insufficiency. Due to this aldosterone secretion decreases and there by kidney lose the balance between water and salt and the pressure thus drops down.

C) it's doesn't affect the blood pressure. It secretes vasopressin and keeps water retention in kidney and thus maintain the blood pressure. It may sometimes cause othostatic hypotension in some adults.

C)
