  • Summarize the West's response to the Tiananmen Square Uprising and China in the years after the event. Do you agree with the West's continual support and assistance to an oppressive regime? Why or why not?

Solutions

Expert Solution

West had a timid response to the event of Tiananmen Square in China and it has continued in recent years as well in the aftermath of that barbaric act by the Chinese government.  There are many European & US companies that operate in China when the economic liberalization under the communist regime of China began. It made the strategic and telling impact upon these western nations and they like to go with the commercial interests served by China, rather than sticking to the human value, for that they cry foul against countries like Cuba, North Korea and Iran. So, it is the commercial benefits and exports that are opted by the west and they still pursue the same policy.

I agree with the approach of unwarranted support and assistance offered by west  towards Chinese government, because event of Tiananmen Square is a symbol, but later on there are more and bigger level of oppression in China, ethnic cleansing in China ( Muslim Uighurs  in Xinjiang) and other related crime against the culture by the Chinese government. But, most of the western media is neither writing about it, nor their governments are raising any concerns. So, it is a western support to the oppression acts.

A polymer rod is tested to determine its viscoelastic response. The rod’s cross-section is square with the side of 5mm. The rod’s length before loading is 500mm. A tensile force of 500N is applied to the rod and the rod’s length under load was measured as a function of time. Instantly after applying the load, the rod is stretched to 508mm. After 24 and 48 hour under load, the rod’s length was measured as 550mm and 570mm, respectively. The load...
